mulletover January Sale
mulletover announce their full line-up for their 2012 January Sale, completing the bill with South London’s techno prince rising, Joy Orbison.
Joy Orbison is the well-mannered nephew of drum ‘n’ bass legend Ray Keith that grew up in Croydon listening to garage icons Todd Edwards, Groove Chronicles and Zed Bias. His brand of garage-house has been celebrated for finding a sound that marries elements of house, two-step, jungle, techno and dubstep. When he released his gargantuan "Hyph Mngo" on Hot Flush in late 2009, the sonic offering became a bona fide anthem, which not only crossed boundaries but laid out a path for the arrival of this brave new talent.
"Every time the two introductory notes [to Hyph Mngo] ring out in a darkened room, it´s impossible not to stifle a smile or hide your excitement at the drop that awaits." - Resident Advisor
As well as releasing material on his own imprint ‘Doldrums’, notorious mixes for Radio 1 and Ministry have only served to cement Joy Orbison´s renown. Most recently his dark-hued take of Lana Del Rey´s "Video Games" was featured as BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe´s Hottest Record in the World. Turning preconceptions about bass music on their head, he blended 2 Step, house and more with plenty of dubstep rhythms. With this magic mixture of sounds and feelings, the Croydon boy can do no wrong being headhunted for a series remixes.
On the night he will be bringing his unique take on what works on the dance-floor and joining the incredible, ever forward looking founder of Kompakt Records Michael Mayer and mulletover’s own Geddes for a January party of epic and refined proportions.
